Working on my third intuitive slow stitched guide has taken me in a new direction. This time, I wanted to explore a different kind of composition—one that feels more geometric and flat, with less texture than before. The idea is to create a layered fabric background using a boro stitch technique, then add embellishments on top. Instead of following a strict pattern, this guide invites you to play freely with shapes, colors, and stitches, guided by your mood and intuition.
This shift from pattern-based stitching to a freeform approach has been both exciting and challenging. Without a pattern, I rely entirely on my intuition and the feel of the fabric collage in front of me. Even when the design feels wild, I find myself balancing colors subconsciously, working with intention even in freedom. In this guide I want to share my experience with this process and offer some practical tips for anyone interested in exploring intuitive, abstract stitching with a geometric twist.
This PDF guide offers a framework but leaves plenty of room for your own creativity. Remember, the goal is not to replicate a pattern but to enjoy the process of discovery through color, shape, and stitch.

Materials you will need
Embroidery cloth 30 x 30 cm
A selection of scrap fabrics in the colors of your choice
A selection of Poly-cotton or polyester sewing thread, as well as a selection of embroidery floss of your choosing and a selection of sewing and embroidery needles
