Purple Winter Slow Stitch
The first pattern - Purple Winter, Slow Stitch Embroidery - for the Four Seasons Slow Stitch Course is now available in the stores!
In the next few weeks, my students will be working on their own slow stitch pieces using this pattern, and I am looking forward to sharing their beautiful creations with you.
Sharing the Journey with My Students
One of the most rewarding aspects of teaching is seeing my students’ original interpretations of my patterns. Each student takes the patterns somewhere else.
I’ll be showcasing their creations on my blog and YouTube channel in the coming weeks. I hope this inspires you to try your hand at slow stitching, whether you're an experienced embroiderer or just starting out.
The process of creating a slow stitched piece is surprisingly satisfying. For one, the portability of the project is a plus. You can take it anywhere, on a bus ride, or even a train ride.
Experimenting with Techniques and Scrap Fabrics
Alongside developing the winter pattern and stitch library, I have enjoyed experimenting with different techniques and leftover fabrics. Using scraps can be liberating, allowing for creativity without the pressure of perfection.
I have been focusing on mixing textures and colors to create depth in my pieces.
The Next Purple Winter Slow Stitch Piece
I'm currently working on my second winter slow stitch piece, challenging myself to explore techniques I haven't tried before.
This piece will include elements from my earlier experiments, blending different stitches and textures into an interesting design.
It will be a rectangle shape this time and I think it will be stretched over a small wooden board.
I try to use found objects rather than purchasing new items except for tools which are sometimes necessary to purchase.
