From a Blanket to a Tunic
A few years ago, I made a rather delightful discovery while browsing through a local charity store: I stumbled upon a collection of five pique cotton summer blankets that caught my eye. The fabric was not only soft and breathable, perfect for warm weather, but also featured a lovely texture that added a touch of charm to any use.

Jewel Colors
But lately I have been having many different clothing ideas. I love jewel colors so when I saw that I had lots of black, purple, pink, turquoise and green t shirt scraps, I decided to make a t shirt which I could use as an over shirt in autumn and winter.

Progress
I have MANY t shirt strips so I decided to make a shirt, which I originally thought of as having a cowl neck and 3/4 length sleeves, a more wintry piece. But I ended up making a shirt without a collar at all, and elbow length sleeves, some progress. It is too hot to wear in our Israeli summer but it will be perfect as a layering piece over a solid colored longer sleeved t shirt or even a t shirt with a collar.

Jewel Tones
Whenever I sort through my fabrics I come up with many different creative ideas. I find that I need a break from creating art techniques and wanted to create some practical pieces that still have that special touch.
I looked at this pile of fabrics, lots of jewel tones in there. I added blacks and an interesting idea germinated. Something practical from scraps that I will get a lot of use out of.

Making a Poncho
So I thought a bit, how does one wear a blanket and still be able to move around, be warm, and work at the same time? I try not to turn the heating on, it dries the air and cost of heating is soaring as well.
Its called a poncho. So I started researching making a poncho. Believe it or not I don't even own one. I found all kinds of ponchos on the internet, made from all sorts of fabrics and in all sizes.
Of course I wasn't going to purchase any fabrics for a poncho.

Wearables
I have been playing around with this idea for a while. To create wearables using my landscape patchwork techniques.
My process takes a while. I think about it, experiment in my head, look at fabrics and then begin to play.

T shirt Tunic
Its October already, skies are beginning to get cloudy and the evenings a bit cooler. Its time to make some t shirt tunics from that pile of t shirts which need to be upcycled.
A pile of purples for the first t shirt tunic. Some stained, some small school shirts. I have been collecting purples for a while.

My Navy tunic
I woke up this morning and decided that I want my navy tunic to be ready by this afternoon.
I raided someone's closet and took a too small (for him) shirt and a remnant of fabric and cut and placed the puzzle pieces together on the table.
The shirt was too short so I had to be creative.

Camo Crop Top
condition but it had a number of oil stains on it.
I was loathe to cut it up for patchwork so after thinking about it for a bit and remembering that I had a few camo colored t shirts I decided to create another crop top or 2.

"Kangaroo" Pockets
I was left with the option of making pockets set in the seams but I wanted large pockets. So i looked at my sweatshirts and came up with the idea of sewing my version of "kangaroo pockets". I was told yesterday in one of the facebook groups that this wasn't really a kangaroo pocket as that is one piece and not 2 so, I am a creative. and can call it whatever I want to.
