When I create something. I keep all of the pieces. The experiments, the offcuts and all of the small remnants. I find something to do with all of them.
When I created the large wave landscape piece for my toturial I ended up having lots of strips and small pieces left over
but I also had some smaller quilted pieces that I had created using really thin strips.
I prefer to recreate small art pieces into practical items that will get more use than just as art. I create tissue holders, small bags and many zippered pouches.
I like to keep a supply of upcycled zippered pouches. I have a box with a number of them. they are my go to gift wrap, as a gift in themselves, a pouch to place jewelry in when I gift a button necklace,. a coin purse, and I also put herbal tea mixes in to gift when I go visiting friends and neighbours.
