These machines are my nemesis

I have had these overlocker/serger sewing machines for more than 40 years and these machines are my nemesis.

The seam edges that are achieved when using a serger are the ultimate in neatness and professionalism. When the serger works that is...

I still have to come to terms with the fact that the machines have to be threaded exactly but EXACTLY according to the chart printed on the inside of the machine.

No shortcuts EVER!
Last week I took both of the machines outside and sat with them in bright daylight so that I could see exactly what I was doing. As it is, my eye sight is deteriorating (age related) and some of the steps in threading these sergers are "hidden".
I have one machine threaded in black and another in white.
I took photos of the front of the sergers so that I would remember the tension numbers of each thread. Took out long tweezers and a toothbrush, rags and machine oil, for cleaning before threading.

It took me over an hour to clean and thread both sergers.
This is one of the lower needles which hides behind the left door

and these are the 2 top needles

I finally did it !
