Students works
have been working quite diligently to prepare the pieces for my 50 piece exhibition of the Wave Landscape Patchwork Technique. Of course my students have seen my works and they know that I am nearing completion.
2 weeks ago they came to me together and told me that they had decided to each create a piece and would I allow them to participate. Of course my answer was yes, in fact if I had known that they wanted to participate I would have let them make many more pieces.

How many versions
While working on my #45 wave landscape patchwork piece I looke at the fabrics and saw that I had a bunch of strips and wondered how many versions I could create today.

Something Practical
The end of winter is nearing so I began sorting the umbrellas that I had used and found this broken umbrella. I initially tried to reattach the metal frame but parts of it had broken.
I took a good look at it to see what I could salvage from it and came to the conclusion that if I unpicked the metal frame I would have a decent sized piece of nylon fabric which after some reconstruction could serve as a good strong lightweight shopping bag, I could make something practical

Thimbles
Sorting in the studio today I found my bottle of thimbles. I have an interesting selection. I don't use most of them, in fact till this year I found using thimbles very uncomfortable. And then I saw a picture on facebook one day of someone wearing a silver thimble with a dragon's head that was shaped like these.

So many Scraps
I am making some crumb patchwork pants and saw when lining up that I was creating so many scraps. I put them in a bowl as I work and saw that the pile was growing and that the mix created a pleasing visual effect.

Using up crumbs
I break the fabric storage down into sections, boxes of sheets and larger pieces, medium sized pieces, small pieces and the last - crumbs and scraps. All sorted according to the color seasons.
I had still too many boxes of crumbs so I decided to create "fabric" pieces out of them and from those to create practical items and I will be using up crumbs.

Woven Fabric
I had a bunch of narrow strips left over when creating last week and decided to make some woven fabric from them.

Curvilinear Spirals
I was pleasantly surprised at how quickly the technique that I had envisioned in my mind of curvilinear spirals came together under the needle.

Do What Feels Right
I have been thinking about writing this post for a while now. I can look at a product and after a few minutes I manage to analyze how it was

My Navy tunic
I woke up this morning and decided that I want my navy tunic to be ready by this afternoon.
I raided someone's closet and took a too small (for him) shirt and a remnant of fabric and cut and placed the puzzle pieces together on the table.
The shirt was too short so I had to be creative.

Camo Crop Top
condition but it had a number of oil stains on it.
I was loathe to cut it up for patchwork so after thinking about it for a bit and remembering that I had a few camo colored t shirts I decided to create another crop top or 2.

"Kangaroo" Pockets
I was left with the option of making pockets set in the seams but I wanted large pockets. So i looked at my sweatshirts and came up with the idea of sewing my version of "kangaroo pockets". I was told yesterday in one of the facebook groups that this wasn't really a kangaroo pocket as that is one piece and not 2 so, I am a creative. and can call it whatever I want to.

Topstitching - 4
Topstitching - 4. I have constructed the patchwork fabric pattern pieces. And now have to top stitch to secure them all in place. I will be washing the tunic of course, but will do so on a low temperature non-agitating wash as I don't want the pieces to fray.
