This time it was quite a challenge, some of the fabric pieces stretched a lot as I was curving the waves and I had to iron quite agressively to flatten the puckers but it was worth it as the end result is what I wanted and its quilted!

More progress but its already night time so I will leave the quilting for tomorrow as I want to see the true colors and for that I need daylight.

It is as though there was a reason that I had kept all of these remnants for the colors of my now.

We are going to work on practical items in combat colors next week. Key rings and zippered pouches which they are going to give their brothers and sisters. I decided to create some pieces of my own before the lesson. I too am angry and heartbroken and working on my art is what helps me.

I discussed colors with my students this week. One of them had a project where she had to paint a somber, serious, heavy landscape and she asked how to choose colors for that. She is a student who is always happy, dancing and laughing all the time and she said that she never feels sad so she is having a hard time choosing colors for the project.

I like to keep a supply of upcycled zippered pouches. I have a box with a number of them. they are my go to gift wrap, as a gift in themselves, a pouch to place jewelry in when I gift a button necklace,. a coin purse, and I also put herbal tea mixes in to gift when I go visiting friends and neighbours. I have a project this week. To create 5 bags and 5 tutorials for a new section in my store. I am busy taking all of the techniques and ideas I have in my head, creating items and writing tutorials for them. I have so many, every time I sit down more ideas come, I will always be busy.But its summer, an August afternoon , and the seaside calls. So I took a break yesterday and drove down to the beach. Each one could be a standalone tutorial but I have incorporated them into one pdf of a wave landscape sunset. I am now going to create a video course which will most probably end up being 2 -3 videos as I have taken many shoots and would like to include detailed instructions in the videos.

I was very busy creating my wave sunset this week. first of all it took me ages to find the right colors in my scrap boxes.

This is my selection of sunset colors. I am going to sew and will see the result.

This is going to be one of the most challenging and ambitious pieces that I have attempted so far. A radiating sunset.

It took a while for me to "see" this sunset, the color layout and the technique for how to get there but I have it now and I see lots of sewing and filming in the week ahead. I envision a glorious piece. That is how I do it, I see it first and then create.

Choosing the quilting colors is an art of itself. It can enhance or spoil the finished look of the quilt. For me it is always a challenge which color to choose. I see the way that it should look in my mind's eye and then I go to the box of threads that I have and see what is there.

The videos will be stand alone but my suggestion is to purchase the pdf as well and then you would have a complete reference. I will also later on be having zoom classes for those that have purchased the pdfs and the videos as question and answer sessions. The first video, the wave landscape video will be coming soon I have one or 2 more takes to create and then.

When I create a new technique I research a lot. I first envision something, lately I am waking up with seeing pictures of a Tree of Life in my mind. I do a sketch with my first coffee of the morning and then begin my research.

I spent all day today choosing fabrics for my next tutorial. I ended up choosing fabrics for 2 tutorials. My table is full of fabric strips arranged in color families.
