I am working on a tutorial for a versatile tunic from fun to fancy with many different options. different fabrics, different pockets and different necklines and hemlines

I love working with flowers, I don't like wearing them as much, and I don't like appliquing them on bags that I use. I made an exception this time. I wanted a rustic bag for myself.

My birthday is in January and a little girl, the daughter of the neighbours has a birthday 2 days before me and she invited me to celebrate with her. I decided to create a floral patchwork bag for her. Something tranquil, a quiet safe place for these times.

I created 2 large crumb patchwork pieces . One is an abstract crumb quilted patchwork art piece in combat colors and the other will have an anemone - kalaniot applique.

Whenever I teach a class I create samples of my own and this week I taught fabric flowers so I created my version of fabric flowers - where there are flowers there is hope.

I ended up with a large pile of elements for my southern landscape piece. At this stage I would normally iron all the elements flat, but this time chose not to. I want the landscape to have a rugged, rough uneven look

I had said that I would create until either ideas or fabrics ran out. I don't know when that will happen. Scrap fabrics have a magical way of multiplying. It doesn't seem to matter how much fabric I use when sewing there is always an endless supply which seems to grow larger rather than smaller.

Never underestimate the power of those with sewing machines. A sewing machine is a magical tool, the knowledge of how to use it gives people superpowers.

There are many forms of meditation. The ones that I find therapautic are when I create. Doing repetetive relaxing motions. First of all choosing beads or buttons. Tactile sensations. Round objects, smooth textures. and the colors this time are soothing. Ocean, sand and sea shades.

This week in T Shirt Workshop 2 I decided to teach them how to make t shirt tube necklaces. I brought a bottle of upcycled wooden beads which were a hit

I wanted to create a rustic, bohemian piece of fabric with lots of texture. I first created textured strips,and then I wove some pieces and sewed some pieces. A tactile and colorful quilted patchwork piece depicting the terrain down south in Israel.

My contribution is to teach of course. They don't know how to sew yet, not even sewing by hand. I had to be creative when thinking of how to keep them occupied and interested for 2 hours. I am going to do a series of workshops teaching them how to create interesting items with t shirts. This is the first T shirt workshop.

This time it was quite a challenge, some of the fabric pieces stretched a lot as I was curving the waves and I had to iron quite agressively to flatten the puckers but it was worth it as the end result is what I wanted and its quilted!

More progress but its already night time so I will leave the quilting for tomorrow as I want to see the true colors and for that I need daylight.

For this project, different from some of my others, the iron works over time. The ironing is the difference between a professional and an amateur looking piece. When I have to iron and use steam a lot I prefer to iron outside as there is fresh air and a breeze and its healthier. I had hoped to finish it today but it started raining and it was too cold to continue working outside. So tomorrow is another day.

The first piece in the series that I am creating around combat colors I will call The Remains.

Who says pouches that are practical can't be pretty. I have been working in these colors for the past month together with my students.

This is a study in colors for 2 boro rectangles for my zippered pouch.
