Fabric Elements
I had said that I would create until either ideas or fabrics ran out. I don't know when that will happen. Scrap fabrics have a magical way of multiplying. It doesn't seem to matter how much fabric I use when sewing there is always an endless supply which seems to grow larger rather than smaller.

The Terrain
I wanted to create a rustic, bohemian piece of fabric with lots of texture.
I first created textured strips, and then I wove some pieces and sewed some pieces. A tactile and colorful quilted patchwork piece depicting the terrain down south in Israel.

Its Quilted
This time it was quite a challenge, some of the fabric pieces stretched a lot as I was curving the waves and I had to iron quite agressively to flatten the puckers but it was worth it as the end result is what I wanted and its quilted!

More Progress
More progress but its already night time so I will leave the quilting for tomorrow as I want to see the true colors and for that I need daylight.

Today was a busy day
For this project, different from some of my others, the iron works over time. The ironing is the difference between a professional and an amateur looking piece. When I have to iron and use steam a lot I prefer to iron outside as there is fresh air and a breeze and its healthier.
I had hoped to finish it today but it started raining and it was too cold to continue working outside.
So tomorrow is another day.

Practical Pouches
Who says pouches that are practical can't be pretty. I have been working in these colors for the past month together with my students.

Combat Colors
We are going to work on practical items in combat colors next week. Key rings and zippered pouches which they are going to give their brothers and sisters.
I decided to create some pieces of my own before the lesson. I too am angry and heartbroken and working on my art is what helps me.

Meetup
They are all in shock. They are finding the creativity helpful. Most of the meetup was spent talking about good and evil in the world and why the children?

Landscape of our home
I had begun working on teh landscape of our home yesterday. When I complete a project I always keep the remnants in a color coordinated bag or box, depending on how many I have. This time I had an interesting selection.

Strip Collage Patchwork
I spent all day today working on that moonscape, I really enjoyed creating it. As I said I was tasked with creating a technique where no ironing, and precise measuring is necessary. Anyone who knows how to do basic sewing can create a strip collage patchwork piece.

Moonlight Landscape
Contrary to what I usually do, that is, have the colors fixed in my mind before beginning to work, this time, I first pulled out colors in a certain mix and then thought of the design. I played around with the fabrics and built something that I think will work for a moonlight landscape.

Somber and Serious
I discussed colors with my students this week. One of them had a project where she had to paint a somber, serious, heavy landscape and she asked how to choose colors for that.
She is a student who is always happy, dancing and laughing all the time and she said that she never feels sad so she is having a hard time choosing colors for the project.

Like Rumpelstiltskin - Scraps to Gold
How Small is Small
I always enjoy finding ways to use up all of the remnants and scrap pieces when working on a project. Like Rumpelstiltskin turning scraps to gold

Bag for a Baby Stroller
I don't sew items for people, I also don't mend clothing. I teach. But I told her that I would sew a bag for her baby stroller and use the pictures to write another tutorial. I have to make samples when writing my tutorials. This was perfect. I love that I am making something and that it won't just be sitting in a box and that somebody will get good use out of it.

Carnival Boho Bag
I was creating with carnival colors last week. A new fabric technique. This time it can used for art but lends itself to practical items as well. Boho pillows for home decor and also for usable items like a large boxy carnival boho tote bag which is always a practical piece.
